As I prepare to return to the Meltham Makers Market on 14th September 2024, I'm filled with excitement and a bit of apprehension. The market is always a highlight, offering a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow makers and customers who appreciate the unique, handmade items that fill our stalls. This time, I’m bringing something special: my new Autumn/Winter collection and, for the first time, my Christmas-themed polymer jewelry.
But here’s the question that’s been on my mind—*is it too early to display Christmas stock in mid-September?*
On one hand, September feels like the beginning of a transitional season. The air is crisp, and people are just starting to think about cozy sweaters and warm drinks. It’s the perfect time to launch my Autumn/Winter collection, which I’m really proud of. The pieces are inspired by the rich, earthy tones of the season, with textures and designs that reflect the changing leaves and cooler temperatures.
But Christmas? It feels like we’ve just said goodbye to summer, and here I am, already thinking about festive ornaments and holiday cheer. However, I know that many shoppers start planning early, especially those who love the thrill of finding unique, handcrafted gifts that can’t be found in big-box stores. The idea of offering a sneak peek at my Christmas collection is tempting. It might just be the right time to catch the early birds who are already in the holiday spirit.
So, as I pack up for the market, I’ve decided to bring a mix. My Autumn/Winter collection will take center stage, but I’ll also have a small selection of Christmas items for those who are ready to embrace the season a little early. I’m curious to see how it goes—will the holiday cheer start in September, or is it too soon? Only time will tell!
